One of the things that tend to happen when on holiday here is that you go out in the resort every night and forget that there is life beyond the resort gates, take a bus or taxi into Varna city at night and you will wonder why you never did it before. Drop off at the Cathedral in the city centre and you will find it lit up and displayed as it never is during the day, then walk along the pedestrian precinct opposite towards the Opera House, also beautifully lit, with the fountains in front putting on a display of water features. Then keep walking down towards the Black Sea and you will find shops, bars, restaurants and clubs all open, plus crowds of people just strolling and enjoying the night air, my favourite thing is to sit in one of the cafй/bars and just people watch as they go by, a pleasant evening without spending lots of money and very relaxing after the frenetic pace of the resorts, and there is even the prospect of a stroll along the beach as well.
