It is very common for English people to come to Bulgaria to live and work, which obviously helps both the local economy and overall development of the country, but it seems that people from the UK are keen to assist in other ways, too.
A team of young people, from a charity foundation set up by Prince Charles, will be coming to Bulgaria for three weeks. Their mission: to renovate a children’s nursery in a small mountain town where, working alongside local volunteers, they aim to fix up the rooms and some of the furniture. This trip to Bulgaria is part of the organisation’s programme to gather together groups of young people (from 20 to 25 years old) to work as volunteers in Central and East European countries.
Meanwhile, the UK charity organisation “Saint John Ambulance” has donated a Ford Transit ambulance to the “Children and Youth” Alliance - a non political organisation set up by the Free and Democratic Bulgaria Foundation, the Municipality of Sofia and the Bulgarian Red Cross. The vehicle will be used in social programmes to support homeless and unemployed young people as well as physically disabled children and adults in care homes. Saint John Ambulance is the leading first aid, transport and care charity organisation in the UK; it describes its main goal as being to provide young people all over the world with medical support, caring services, education and training in personal and overall development.
