A new beach handball ground is planned for construction in Varna but the location is not settled yet. A beach volleyball ground already exists in the resort of Varna but beach handball is still a new sport for Bulgaria. The European Federation of Sport has already sent to the Bulgarian head office all the papers required for the project, these consist of not only the project but a list of all the rules for organizing the matches. A committee for beach handball will be formed with-in a few days by the Federation, this committee will be in charge of the organization of this new sport for Bulgaria. It is planned for at least one international tournament to be organized on this playground during the summer season.
Bulgarian hard-court handball champions Locomotiv Nadin during a recent stay in Turkey received an invitation to participate in a beach handball tournament in Greece. If the project for the ground in Varna is put into effect before the end of the summer the Bulgarian team will accept the invitation.
The project will add variety to sports life in Bulgaria and its summer resorts and should attract new tourists keen on this sport and will establish new possibilities for entertainment during their summer vacations.
